Kiangsu & Chekiang Primary School was founded by Kiangsu and Chekiang Residents (HK) Association in 1953. Proposed by Mr. P.Y. Chow , the Supervisor, its International Section (KCIS) first opened in September 1993. The school was one of the first in Hong Kong to offer an English-medium curriculum coupled with a daily lesson in Mandarin, for all children from the age of 3 to 11 years old . It was from these small beginnings that the school has continued to grow and flourish over the past ten years. Today the school continues to be a happy and expanding community where the children are able to learn in a stimulating and exciting environment.
In September 2002, we established our Upper School Campus at Kiangsu – Chekiang College, 20 Braemar Hill and moved our P2-P6 classes there.
The British National Curriculum is used as the school's core curriculum, and care has been taken to modify it wherever necessary to fit in with the unique needs of children living in a multi-cultural community like Hong Kong. Care has also been taken to insist upon a high standard of behaviour from all the children, and we have in place a sensible balanced code of behaviour, which all the children are expected to follow. The Secondary Section, which is an additional section of Kiangsu- Chekiang College established by the same sponsoring body in 1958, grew out of repeated requests from our Primary section parents, who at the time were increasingly concerned about the lack of secondary places at other International Schools in Hong Kong. We opened our first Year 7 class in September 2002. Our Year 10 and 11 students study for the IGCSE Examinations. We are registered with Edexcel and Cambridge Examination Board, from the UK, and our courses are chosen from both these providers. We are proud of our excellent results in the IGCSE Examinations. In 2007 we were one of the first International Schools in Hong Kong to achieve authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation, to offer the I.B. Diploma to Years 12 and 13. From 2009 onwards, Our Year 13 students have sat for the I.B. Examination. Achieving outstanding results, most of Year 13 graduates are admitted to overseas or local universities.
